August salmon

5 posts in this topic

Great over night trip with the old man. Managed to hook a bunch of small salmon and a few good sized ones. Even though fish were rising consistently, big black stone nymphs took the largest at each pool we hit. Only a few were taken on dries right at dusk. Only able to fish a few hours the first night and a few hours the next morning. Still worth the trip. Wish I had my go pro each fish jumped several times before reaching the net.

Ha yes the fish flop pic is great. Unfortunately that was the only picture we got of that salmon and, of course, it was the biggest of the trip- I would guess some where around 20". You cant really tell from the background but the direction he flopped in was deeper so luckily he flopped into water that was thigh deep and swam away strongly. Unfortunately I am couched for 6 weeks with a broken fibula- be back right in time for bird season and fall fishing
