Because of work coming my way this summer (which as a consultant I'm thankful for) I've only been out about 1/10 the amount of times I typically am in the summer. Tomorrow, come hell or high water I'm taking the day to go fishing. I've been skunked on stripers four times this year, but done well on trout the four times I've gone out. I really want to catch a striper this summer but I also don't want to spend the day flogging an empty ocean. If you were in my position what would you do? For geographic reference it's a 40 minute drive to Ferry Beach for me and 1.25 hours to the Bethel/ Gilead area.

I got into Bass on the beach again this morning. Sight fishing in close where sand eels are easy food. I must have hooked the troop leader because the school stayed with my fish during the entire battle. The clear water and calm surf is nice when you don't have a boat.

Stripers.

When the stripers are around, why fish for something that is comparable to striper bait? B)

Trout can be caught almost any time.

3 weeks until trout fishing picks up. The ponds can be great when the trout first move off the spring areas. They seem to be very hungry at that time. I will be heading north for trout as soon as the temps drop. For now I am working the suds when the conditions are right.
