Landlocked Salmon Anglers,...Please review the following PDF attachment and perhaps send Mr Bullard a respectful E-mail regarding this ridiculous proposal to rebuild the dam at Scribners Mills which will block access to much of the prime salmon redd/nursery grounds on this fragile river system.

Sent this morning.
Dear Mr. Bullard,
I write to you in opposition of a favorable decision to obstruct the Crooked River at Scribners Mill.
Throughout New England there is an understanding, that at one time, dams were erected for a propose. The greater good of the people was served. We also have an understanding that the decimation of our natural resources caused by those actions were not serving the interests of the greater good.
Today I see no positive application or effect of a greater good by allowing a single company or person to obstruct any waterway, let alone a water resource as valuable to the great State of Maine as this one with it's fate in your hands.

I do not support rebuilding this dam but after reading about the mill I'm actually bit sympathetic to the mill owner in this case. I think it would be a great educational experience for people to be able to see an 1850's era sawmill in operation and the owner has obviously put a lot of hard work into restoring it.
Seems like there could be some kind of engineering solution to this problem that doesn't involve damming the river or running the mill on diesel fuel. . . something like pumping water from the lake through the sluices or something to that effect.
