can anyone name a good substitute for snowshoe hare leg fur? Need some for a new fly i'd like to try but no luck finding any.

Just have to look in your local fly shop, ask them to get it for you.
If you don't live close, you have to go on line to find it.
I have noticed for a while after the passing of Fran Betters I had trouble getting it in cream color.

Now it seems to have made a come back and I find in most fly shops.
Course ... I buy it all up.
I use it for the USUAL fly pattern which is a killer..
... and my snowshoe emerger patterns in the darker colors.

I've heard that there is a shortage currently, not sure why. It can be found online, PM me if you want more info on where to find it. The feet from wild snowshoe hare are the best, either shoot one or get it from road kill. Not sure what you could substitute, it has some very unique properties. I'd take Igloo Lake up on his offer if I was you.
