Looking to take the family to a nice little camping spot with decent fishing for the weekend in western maine or white mountains. If anyones got any suggestions, either next to a river for some dry flies or on a small lake or pond to take my belly tube on.

Rangeley State Park Campground - Nice, quiet and close to lots of very good fishing. Geat family campground. I have also heard good things about Cupsuptic, but have never stayed there. Cabins in the Rangeley area are fairly cheap if you don't feel like roughing it.

There's a nice campground in Jackson NH just off 302 which sits between the Saco and Ellis Rivers ( can't remember the name but it is on the internet and in the NH Gazateer). Lots for the family to do in the area and you can walk to both rivers. Saco gets lots of tubing activity during the day but can be fished productively later in the evening and the Ellis is heavily stocked with brookies and rainbows and normally offers good dry fly fishing this time of year. If you do go there stop in N Conway at North Country Anglers for the latest on hot locations and fly selection. ;) B)

I second what Mac said. The Glen Ellis Camp Ground has many camp sites. Excellent place for a family camping trip. Many sites on the Saco and Ellis rivers. The area has lots of things for a family to do.
However, at this time it may be difficult to get a good camp site as the month of July is usually booked well in advance. Look them up on the Net and give them a call because they may have some openings due to cancellations.

Yes, I just looked it up and the campground I was referring to is Glen Ellis Family CG. Great place and great location for fishing. ;)

Cupsuptic Campground is nice. A bunch of us stayed there a few years ago.

Cupsuptic Lake.If you want Western mountains, rivers, lakes and trout. Some of the shore tent sites can be a little cramped if you are in more than one tent,But its clean, nice facilities and close to Kennebago,Rangeley,Cupsuptic and Magalloway rivers.

Thanks guys, didn't end up going this weekend as the little one got sick but I looked up that Cupsuptic campground and I think that would be perfect. Hopefully next weekend!!

Hastings in Gilead is a nice quiet small campground that is good for last minute trips. Usually easy to find a site there and its very close to some good fishing.
