As for using heavier lines meant for single hand rods, can you use them? Sure, as long you're planning to do mostly overhead casting. They won't be all that fun for "spey" casting since the grain weights, head lengths, and tapers don't really match up for creating casts with a sustained anchor. You can obviously do it if needed, but the timing, stroke, distance, and turnover will likely be far off from what you could expect from a properly matched line. Of the two single hand floaters you mentioned, I would probably opt for the 8wt bass line since it presumably has a thicker/shorter head. The taper will still be off, so I wouldn't expect any kind of great distance or turnover.
