A fairly fast and simple tie that uses materials that you should be able to find at most fly shops. I changed the way that the claws are traditionally tied in on most crayfish patterns to help keep them separated when twitching the fly through the water. Patterns with the rabbit strips tied in on the sides of the hook shank (with the hide of the strips facing each other) always collapsed in the water and didn't appear as two separate claws. The orientation of the strips in this pattern helps to maintain a decent separation of the claws.

Very nice. I used some super glue to stiffen the hide on mine but I like your idea and will give it a try.

Thanks Stephen.

Great idea with the superglue Casey. That sounds like a perfect solution!

Thanks Dave. They are pretty fast simple ties that are equally as effective. There are more realistic patterns out there, but I feel like this one drops nicely in the water with the weight tied near the back, and moves very much like the naturals when twitched along the bottom.
