I've taken a few trips to Utah for skiing, mountain biking and fly fishing. The skiing and fly fishing has all been in the north of the state, but mountain biking in the south. Are you in the eastern part of the state. I'm trying to imagine where trout would thrive in that arid area and my only ideas are possible trout streams coming down out of Colorado. Nice pics...I will definitely make my way back out to Utah sometime "relatively" soon.

jcoops, Thats the thing no one thinks of this area as a flyfishing destination..Desert..Its high alpine desert much like Montana these creeks come out of the mountains and the creeks are at 6500 to 7500 feet.Bryce Canyon is the place I stay its central to more than a dozen streams and creeks and high mountain lakes. Cedar city is about 45min to an hour away. Panguitch,Hatch and Circleville Utah are the towns near my Fishing spots. The creeks are as follows Acey,Panguitch,BlackCanyon section of the sevier mammoth,Antimony and many more. The Boulder mountains have ponds with 5 and 6 pound Brook trout! I'm from Maine so I was very sceptical but its well known these fish do very well there. If you want to sight fish browns that average 14 to 16 inches with the chance to catch 18 to 22 and bigger browns this place is a must. My son and I hooked many Browns that where 20 or better only to have them take us into the undercut banks or logjams!! Epic battles nontheless.the biggest we got to hand were 18 but nice fish. Many fish are spotted tight to the banks in inches of water then caught on drys..Another way is big black beadhead Buggers fished dead drift tight to the banks..just watching some of these big nasty Browns snatch that fly from the underwater hole in the bank is just crazy! If I can give anymore info just let me know. Its great fishing but its even better because you just don't see many other fisherman.

Nice fish. I lived in Utah for a couple years, there is great fishing all over the state, and you can always find water to yourself. The Boulder Mountains are no joke, Panguitch can be pretty sweet too. Up north is awesome as well, more people, but a short hike will always equal no crowds. Have fun out there and do post more reports.
