i just severely sprained my ankle, and i have also not been fishing in about 2 weeks... im getting the urge to cast a fly to some fish, even if it would just be some sunny's or a small bass. does anybody have any experience casting a fly rod with an almost completely disabled ankle?
I swear the fish was THIS BIG!

I went through a severe sprain a few years ago, actually tore and separated the ligaments in my ankle. The best advice I got was to let it heal (six weeks) before putting any weight on it at all. If you don't the ligaments will not heal tight and you will be stuck with a loose ankle that is prone to rolling and re-injury for the rest of you life. As hard as it was, I took the time to let my ankle heal and did the physical therapy, now my ankle is as good as new (almost  )

Tore all the ligaments and tendons in my left ankle had surgery in november and was fishing in dec. wear good wading boots with a thick neopreene sock if you have them if not wear an ankle brace under your waders. I also just went to places that i knew were smooth and where I wouldnt roll my ankle. you just need to be very carefull and take it one step at a time also Pick up a Simms wading staff they are awesome and I dont go anywhere without it regardless. I also put some of the star hardbite cleats and some of the other littler spikes in my wading boots to keep my footing while I am on the slippery stuff like the Saco or others. love the Simms cleats! all that combined and being carefull will get you out. enjoy hope this helped
