I'll be hooking up with Travis, fishmont and nympho for a go at the striped ones. headed out at 0400 and expect good fishing due to the inclimate weather.Probably gonna fish the tide as the day will be dark. We'll be using crab and minnow immitations in hopes of hooking up to some cows. Will report. B) :)

Alarm goes off at one am, most likely will be pouring rain, hour and a half drive to fish, with hopes to hook up with some cows but most likely will just catch some crabs or the back of my head. Why do I do it? I really don't know but I bet every single one of you that read this can relate. Can't wait, bring it!

Hope you guys had a good morning. I hammered the crap out of 15"-25" fish this morning. Decided on staying mobile from sun up till 8. Checked 4 spots and at the last one I found birds and fish busting all over the place. Action on every cast for an hour, lots of fun!

Congrats to Fishmont and Nympho on a couple of nice fish.

Nice to meet you guys and hope we can fish together again soon.

Sounds like a good morning Lost.

Fishing has slowed a bit for us this week with warmer water temps.

Here's to an epic fall!

I made my own flats foray early this morning. In my favor were the thick fog and calm conditions, but it was bathwater warm even on the incoming tide so I wasn't overly optimistic. As I prepared to make my third or fourth cast on the east side of the sand bar, I saw a swirl straight ahead. A couple short strips later, something rolled and it was on: I could tell right away that this was bigger than anything I'd ever hooked on a fly rod. Went into my backing, and after 10+ minutes and a few runs I managed to beach my first bona fide cow. She measured at about 37-38", and was what the ladies would call full-figured. Apologies for the quality of the photos; I was alone, was in a hurry to get her back into the water, and -- I'm not ashamed to admit this -- my hands were shaking a bit. Thanks to Travis for the recent tip about the double cinch knot!

Travis, It was nice to have been given the opportunity to fish with both you and Silas, thanks again to Mal. If he hadn't invited me to tag along I probably would've never hooked my first striper on the fly. (It was awesome, and I'm now officially hooked)! I'm almost looking forward to fall in the salt more than swinging streamers on the rivers this fall for salmon and trout. Good thing I have such a tolerant wife because I have a feeling this fall she'll not be seeing much of me!

It was an absolute pleasure to meet and fish with you all on Saturday.

tls512 - I should have taken notes. It is clear that you are as passionate as they come about striped bass on the fly. It is always a bonus when someone with this knowledge shares it so freely.

Nympho - nice work on the first of many stripers. You are a determined (sleep deprived) angler. I look forward to more trips as we develop our salt skills.

Mainiac aka “the godfather “, thanks for yet another successful trip. I needed the instruction on that fish as my heart was beating out of my chest!

Great fish MarchFellow! I hope to have a chance at a fish of that quality in the future.

Now time to sleep…

Nice job on the fish boys! Hopefully I will be getting out more in Sept. after my work load slows down. This fall could be a good one.
Good on ya Eric and Marshfellow, this time of year it is great to see the fish still active in tight.

Poor Silas was beaten by his girlfriend upon breaking the news of fishing with you during this weekend. Don't let those "basketball" stories fool ya'! Nice fish, guys!
