Great morning on the flats.

17 June 2013 - 07:25 AM

Headed out at 0330 to meet up with Max,Travis and the Jenkins boys,Kevin and Andy.Being as it was high tide we worked the old causeway out almost to the end. Didn't take but a few minutes to get into the stripers.Using crab flies we got fifty or better between us and it was a mixed bag of schoolies and good 'uns.

The stripers are definitely in their summer routine now, once the sun got high the fishing definitely slows down.Still we did pretty well.

Here's Max with one

Kevin  with another,

Travis with the biggest of the morning,ry%3D400

The fishing is still far better than the last few years. Catching several different year classes is wonderful to see as this is our future.

You should take advantage of this seasons bounty and get after these fish.Get some crab flies and drag 'em slow ! ;)  B)  :)

What a season so far !!!

16 June 2013 - 07:11 AM

This start of the 2013 striper season has been simply phenominal ! I haven't had such consistent striper fishing since 2003.Skunks are rare and more often than not double didget catches are the rule. Lots of nice fish too ! Thirty inchers are not uncommon. Bigger stripers are being caught each time out! A ton of schoolies around too, which forbodes well for the future.Let it remain so !!! :D  :D :D

Wanna catch a cow ?

14 June 2013 - 06:29 AM

Don't tell anybody   ,but....................................... herrin' are starting to drop back out of the rivers. B)

A good friend(a spin guy) did huge last night. Seven stripers over forty with the biggest a monster forty-six incher that he said went thirty-eight  pounds on his Boga. :o

To take advantage of this you got to hit the rivers.Consentrate on the last third of the drop as this will congregate the bass in holding pools.Use big flies.... like seven to ten inch flies !

Make sure your backing is well knotted and in good order.Have some fun ! :)

This weekend.

11 June 2013 - 06:34 PM

If you can, get out at 0400 and fish the entire incoming. This has been the best time to get multiple hookups. stay right on the edge of the rising tide. The stripers will be right on the leading edge. Don't matter if its shallow, they'll be moving in to vaccumn up emerging sandeels and crabs.

The crab imitation and small, sparse black clouser are the go to flies.Don't forget to strip it slow ! :)
