Trouting Adventures - Here, there, and everywhere!

08 May 2013 - 09:43 AM

I have been on a few trout fishing adventures the past couple of weekends. First trip was for a buddies bachelor party weekend. Water was still cold with the fish still not showing too much aggression towards streamers... much to my disappointment. We were still able to connect with a few on deep and slow drifts. Was still a great time to get out and show the guys a good time on the water.

This past weekend I had a chance to meet up and do some fishing with a friend from college. He had fly fished when he was in high school but hadn't really kept up with it since then. I was able to give him a few pointers and even managed to get him a fish (although it didn't stick around for pictures). After sight fishing to some decent sized brookies in a crystal clear brook and watching the fish follow/look at/take and proceed to spit out the fly before the set...haha I think that he may stick with the fly rod for a while yet. ;) Frustrating but very very fun. He even sent me a picture from the day after of a smallie that he caught on a fly that I had given him. It was a great time out and always good to get someone hooked on the fly rod...just not literally.... :D

Adventures on an "Unknown" Moosehead Tributary... ;)

28 September 2012 - 10:57 AM

Last weekend I did a little explorishing on a Mooshead lake tributary. I found lots of fish feeding...and they had some decent size to them as well. I did very well on streamers and got a few on nymphs. Low and slow swings were the ticket. And my "Unknown" comment in the title is just a slight fib. ;)Here are a few pics for you to enjoy.
