Fly Fishing Courses for Spring 2005
This class is recognized as one of southern Maine's top fly fishing schools. We have a staff of certified expert instructors and have a fine tuned teaching approach that makes learning this sport easy, fun and thorough. This is the perfect way to increase your learning curve by either getting rid of bad habits or to assure yourself that you are learning this sport the right way and with the correct information. Once in the class the student will quickly learn the ins and outs of equipment requirement needs verses the anglers wants. You will receive introductory, fundamental, as well as, intermediate training in Concepts of the Imitation, Basic understanding of Entomology and how it can be applied to the fly angler, Water Dynamics and how the knowledge can be applied to fishing, Fundamentals of Casting, outdoor skills required for successful fishing and proven instructional fly fishing techniques. This course also will include a day of on the water training.
Custom-tailored fly-fishing clinics or classes of expert instruction can be arranged for those of you that would like to greatly improve upon the level of training provided in the fundamental course of instruction. Tuition will vary from host to host but will always be less than half the price of any other similar programs.
Fly Fishing Schools
The Academy's curriculum and teaching methods were developed as a result of over 50 years of staff experiences and advanced training. Our instructors are experts at teaching fly- fishing and have the polished, proven instructional techniques that are a product of years of practicing what they preach. Our Academy is the easiest and the most enjoyable way to learn this rewarding pastime. Tuition is based on facilities, staffing and course materials provided but usually $65.00 to $85.00 per student.
Private Fly Fishing Schools
Custom tailored fly fishing courses and expert instruction can be arranged for business, clubs, groups, families or individuals at the location of your choice. Tuition $50.00 per student.
I-Day Women's Fly Fishing Clinics
This course is specifically designed for women that are interested in learning this sport in a friendly and comfortable environment. Or for those that simply want to refine their fly-fishing skills. Tuition $75.00 per student.
Casting & Line Control
This is a full day of tightening your loop, develop techniques for expert fresh and saltwater presentations, and improve your fly rod fundamentals. learn the single and double-haul, positive and negative cast, and throw a perfect roll cast. Add distance and accuracy to every cast. Tuition $50.00 per student.
Professional Guide Service Available
Our staff are also a source of qualified and professional guiding and we can offer endless opportunities for you to get to the big ones. Let one of our registered guides take you fishing. We can arrange fishing trips that can vary from I-day to 1-week. We can take you to an in-state location or arrange for a 5-day get away to northern Quebec Province. Tuition $100.00a day for in state or $200.00 a day for out of state or country.
Fly Tying Clinics
This Academy also provides several different classes on fly tying. Curriculum includes techniques on tying Nymphs, Dry Flies, Wet Flies, Lures, Streamers, Tube Flies and Waddingtons. Enjoy the thrill of catching that next fish on a fly that was tied by your own hands. Larval, pupal or nymphal, adult and the terrestrial patterns are taught. All material is provided. This course is made up of three 3-hour sessions. Tuition $125.00 per student.
