    Do you dope?

Through the years I've wondered about whether floatants and sink concoctions would attract or repel trout. I do have to say that when using a favorite bushy subsurface pattern, it seems that I get more action if I simply let the fly get waterlogged before making the first and successive casts. Years ago I watched a video, Joe Humphries if I'm not mistaken where he rubbed his nymph on a slime-covered stone claiming that it helped to mask human scent, and to make the fly smell like the stream. I tried it, and for what it's worth, I still do this today. HW

    Night Fishing Salmon and Brookies

I've had some good action beginning at dusk and going on into the dark. Fairly small to large streamers were the ticket. I've also skated and turbo-stripped mouse patterns and picked up some big rainbows and browns that way. There nothing like casting into the dark, stripping or skating and hearing a loud splash. Night fishing is cool.

    Fly Tying Lamp

NEW PRICE - Bought a tying lamp a short time ago and it's not serving the purpose very well. I tie at a fairly large tying station that I built a few years ago. The goose-neck on the lamp is a little too short for my set up, and stretching it out over the vise crowds my work space. I found another desktop-type lamp that is working better. Included is a spare 300 hr. bulb. I'll take $40 and $5.00 shipping to anywhere in CON-US, or pick up in Arundel, ME. PayPal works. Having problems with Photobucket (trying to get me to upgrade to business account). Please PM me you email address for photos. HW

    Good budget polarized fishing sunglasses?

I learned long ago about the importance of having good, middle-of-the-road priced gear and taking good care of it. I picked up a pair of Orvis "Top Focals" years ago and simply love them. The magnifier is at the top of the lens so my vision isn't compromised when wading. Just have to tip my head down to thread a fly and tie a knot. I've got them on a trustworthy lanyard, only clean them with a spud cloth and put them into a hard case as soon as I climb back into the truck. They ran $150 but have been worth every penny. For what it's worth... HW

    Radisson 12ft canoe

I've had 2 of these, the first was an olive green 12 footer under their original name Sports Pal back in the 70's. Wasn't much of a fan of the foam seats that came with it. Second was a 12 foot square tail Radisson with camo finish. Used a small electric motor on it. Had good luck with both as far as leaks go. I agree with the weight thing. You can carry those boats anywhere. HW
