Good post Corey. Maybe same spot, could've been an accident but picked up loose tippet and a fly. (cool tie actually, thanks whoever you are)

    Searching for quite in Maine

That place is one of the most beautiful spots to fish in our state. Pretty rare to have it all to yourself though.

    Ninety-nine................

Work sucks! I haven't had a chance to fish once yet so far this year. When I first started fly fishing I was the April 1st. guy. I need some of what you been smoking Yoda!

    this looks like fun.

So...., as this is a tournament, one must fish as much as possible to increase one's odds of winning throughout the course of the month. Sounds awesome, the only problem is how to justify all these trips south to my wife!

    Flies for Kids

Killer! Nice to put a face to the winner. He'll get those arms strong really quick if he starts by fishing the flies in the first bugger box, 1st row and middle row.

    What kind of drag ?

http://www.orvis.com/p/hydros-sl-fly-reels/2fbt Chris, I cannot speak for the quality of this reel but do own an older Battenkill reel for my 5wt Recon. SOLID. Also have an Orvis TLS Power Matrix 6wt which is an awesome rod for slinging heavy nymphing stuff. Had a Helios 2 9wt as well which was replaced by Orvis, brand new, twice.(started out with Helios 1) I break stuff. What I can speak for is Orvis customer service dept. Everthing I've sent back to them has been repaired or replaced(replaced more than not). They're close so shipping is pretty cheap. Turnaround time, QUICK-FAST!

    Albino...

Thank you for such a tried and true pattern! Kidding about the challenge, you'd catch more fish than me fishing a bare hook! I'm sure we'll cross paths this year

    Why the hell...

Pics would be helpful to see what's going wrong for you. Everything James said was spot on.(really nice mackerel!) Additionally, you should check out HMH vises website and click tutorials. Look at Travis Shipman's SBS on the river herring. I found this to be really helpful. Less is more with hollows. Small clumps of buck tail, discard the shorter hairs from each clump. It's the whole point of the technique, to create the illusion of bulk without the weight. Good luck!
