  1. April 13, 2016 The Mollyockett Chapter of Trout Unlimited will be presenting a program titled FLY FISHING 101. If you are interested in learning to fly fish or maybe get better at fly fishing this event is for you. The program starts at 7:00p.m. at The First Congregational Church, 17 East Main Street, South Paris, ME. The presentation is free and open to both TU members and non-members. As a followup to this presentation there will be 2 days of on water instruction scheduled in June. Our Guest Speaker that evening will be Rod McGarry….. Rod is a Registered Professional Master Maine Guide, a Board Certified Master Fly Casting Instructor and the staff instructor for L L Bean's Outdoor Discovery Schools. He has been fly fishing for trout in Maine for 49 years and is well aware that fly fishing calls for some understanding about tackle, equipment, flies, water, clothes, and conditions. And while fly fishing comprises many skills, Rod is convinced that casting is the skill that best defines fly fishing. That is where he fills in the knowledge and practice gaps to help folks get success. His workshops and programs have the reputation of having positive impact such that he can recommend to his audience tips and techniques that the newer caster or the experienced pro “can make it happen” the next time out on the water. Rod McGarry has that rare teaching ability, he makes complex concepts easy to grasp, and he loves to share the lore of ways to take more trout. You will walk away with an understanding of some of the tools, tips, tackle, tactics and techniques for taking trout.
