Extended Heat and Striper Behavior

Recommended Posts

Curious with this extended heat we have been experiencing along the ME/NH coast how much this affects the normal behavior of stripers?

Do they tend to not travel up as far into the estuaries and stay deeper in channels and along ledges because of the increased water temp?  Does this make the pre-dawn time frame even more important?

Thanks!

Martha and I fished stripers from a boat the other day and did better by fishing along the ledges. Even got a double.

Yeah go deep if you can. The rivers will be warm. Ledges are your best bet. If your gonna hit a beach do it early or late. Talk to a couple folks today that got two keepers in the am off the beach. From my experience when it gets warm go for deeper water and fish incoming tides when the suns not out full bore. You could do some sight fishing but incoming tides would be the better time as it pushes the cold water into shore
