Head cement

Recommended Posts

Hi guy's,

What are you using for head cement, I have always just used the cheap waspi stuff. It is time to order some more is there something better?

When I first started tying flies I used head cement. When I started tying again(after kids and other stuff) I didn’t use head cement. Now I use the UV stuff. I know some use Sally Hanson Clear nail polish. Not sure that’s the right answer but it’s what I do.

Sally’s hard as nails and sometimes just a bit of superglue on the thread during whip finish.

I don’t use it often, and occasionally have a head unravel but that is rare. When I do glue heads, I use sally Hansen’s.

On large heads it is easy to paint on, on small ones, I hit the thread before I whip finish it.

I like Veniard's Cellire.  Sally Hansen is a close second.
